As ClarksvilleNow.com continues its aggressive online growth, we are looking for a candidate committed to the hyper-local user experience. Candidate must be driven, creative and an enthusiastic individual, who has the experience and motivation to move the online news agency forward, while working collaboratively across the organization. This individual will be content-obsessed and drive a reader-first expansion. Primarily responsible for the day-to-day execution of bringing community provided content and feature stories online, optimizing site experience and content while driving navigation and pageviews.

Skills (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, digital marketing, business, graphic design, computer science or other related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within digital landscape, preferably in the news and media industry.
  • Experience working with WordPress or similar content platform.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Expert in SEO and site optimization.
  • Able to work independently and be self-motivated while still within a team environment and fosters strong team collaboration.
  • Awareness of news and media trends, bringing national trends into a hyper local focus.
  • Fluency in HTML5/CSS3, a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge AP-style, a plus.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines is a MUST.
  • Photoshop experience preferred.
  • Videography experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, including prioritizing / time management, and ability to meet deadlines and changing business needs.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exude a strong sense of teamwork by working together effectively, respectfully and efficiently with all team members in a very fast-paced work environment.

CONTENT EDITOR – CLARKSVILLE NOW

The Content Editor will report to the Site Manager and Director of Digital Operations and will be a key contributor in driving content on ClarksvilleNow.com. ClarksvilleNow.com is a digital news source with millions of monthly pageviews. This position must work directly with reporters, freelancers, community partners, and internal partners on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content strategies for ClarksvilleNow.com.
  • Provide content ideation strategies for all categories of the site, maintaining the Editorial Calendar.
  • Design content that will appeal to the community audience collaborating with the Site Manager and Director of Digital Operations.
  • Expected to oversee and manage the quantity and quality of content for ClarksvilleNow.com on a daily basis.
  • Will manage the flow and volume of content providing recommendations to ClarksvilleNow.com Site Manager for posting frequency.
  • Expected to personally create content as needed.
  • Must be well-versed in AP style standards as all content will be reviewed by the candidate prior to publishing.
  • Candidate should consider oneself an avid reader with a keen eye for catching typos and style and grammatical errors.
  • Strong communication skills are important as this person will be required to work with community leaders and business owners while curating content.
  • A creative mind with a knack for identifying trending topics through ongoing research resulting in engaging content.
  • The ability to multi-task and accomplish jobs quickly.

COMMUNITY REPORTER

The 5 Star Media Group and ClarksvilleNow.com is seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the community reporter position for their growing news department. This position will cover Clarksville, Montgomery County, and Fort Campbell. Candidate will be well versed in multi-media reporting, capable of writing short-form stories for online publication, crafting social media content, and capturing compelling photos and video. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to create rapport with people and should have an outgoing personality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Candidate should be able to work independently with strong attention to detail and time management skills. Community Reporter will also be expected to assist the entire news team during large scale events. Responsibilities

    • Creating content and finding human-interest stories in Clarksville, Montgomery County, and Fort Campbell.
    • Enhance the social media presence of Clarksville Now with photos and video.
    • Maintaining strong relationships with community leaders and organizers.
    • Assisting the Clarksville Now team with development of stories and editorial calendar.
    • Proven experience and success posting photos and videos on social media for business.
    • Experience with interview, debate, or on camera reporting.
