Skills (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, digital marketing, business, graphic design, computer science or other related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within digital landscape, preferably in the news and media industry.
  • Experience working with WordPress or similar content platform.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Expert in SEO and site optimization.
  • Able to work independently and be self-motivated while still within a team environment and fosters strong team collaboration.
  • Awareness of news and media trends, bringing national trends into a hyper local focus.
  • Fluency in HTML5/CSS3, a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge AP-style, a plus.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines is a MUST.
  • Photoshop experience preferred.
  • Videography experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, including prioritizing / time management, and ability to meet deadlines and changing business needs.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

The Content Editor will report to the Site Manager and Director of Digital Operations and will be a key contributor in driving content on is a digital news source with millions of monthly pageviews. This position must work directly with reporters, freelancers, community partners, and internal partners on a daily basis.


  • Develop content strategies for
  • Provide content ideation strategies for all categories of the site, maintaining the Editorial Calendar.
  • Design content that will appeal to the community audience collaborating with the Site Manager and Director of Digital Operations.
